Singapore Airlines’ Los Angeles Route Served by Airbus A380

Singapore Airlines began its first Airbus A380 connection to North America. The airline has launched A380 service on the daily Singapore - Tokyo - Los Angeles route, the eighth destination in the Singapore Airlines’ network with regular A380 operations.

The inaugural A380 flight on the Los Angeles route took off on Friday at around 0930hrs local time from the Singapore’ Changi airport and landed in Los Angeles around 1330hrs local time.

“The introduction of the A380 to Los Angeles is another wonderful milestone in our history. We have had the privilege of serving customers on this route since 1980, and we are proud to be able to introduce our flagship aircraft to North America. We are confident that our customers will appreciate the industry-leading cabin products available on the A380,” Mr Mak Swee Wah, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President Commercial, was quoted as saying in the company’s website.

A380 is the world's largest passenger jetliner and the launch of the aircraft on Singapore - Tokyo - Los Angeles route spells great news for the travellers. Not only do they have the option of exploring the wonderful charm of the A380 aircraft but more number of economy seats means travellers who go for cheap tickets on flights have brighter chances of actually getting them. The airline is all set to increase its fleet with 15 new Airbus 330-300 aircrafts that are scheduled to be delivered to the carrier between 2013 and 2015. The airline has announced that these new aircrafts will be plying within Asia and to Australia and the Middle East.

“The A330s will enable us to add more capacity on regional and medium-range routes and further strengthen Singapore Airlines’ network offering. These new planes will also provide enhanced levels of comfort to our customers and boost operational efficiency,” Singapore Airlines’ CEO Goh Choon Phong was quoted in different news portals as saying.

“Together with the additional A380s that we are taking delivery of this year, as well as Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s on order for the years ahead, the lease of the A330s is consistent with our longstanding policy of operating a young and modern fleet,” Mr Phong further added.
