Etihad Airways and South African Airways Sign Codeshare Pact

UAE’s flag carrier, Etihad (EY) and South African Airways (SA) have got into a mutual alliance by signing a codeshare agreement. The two carriers have signed the pact to offer more flight options to fliers.

This development is sure to please passengers booking tickets for flights to South Africa on both airlines as they will now be able to get seamless connection to various destinations in Africa, South America and the Middle East and beyond.  

Under the arrangement, SA will place codes on EY flights to 12 destinations from Abu Dhabi. Similarly, Etihad will place its code on SA flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth in South Africa, as well as to Livingston, Lusaka and Ndola in Zambia, to Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and to Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The agreement is sure to bring manifold rewards for frequent-flyer members of both the airlines. The code-share will spell as reciprocal frequent-flyer program benefits to the tickets holders when travelling aboard any of the two airlines. Voyager members will be able to earn miles when travelling aboard EY flights using SA-issued tickets. Likewise, Etihad Guest members will also be able to earn and redeem miles when travelling with South African Airways using EY-issued tickets.

Over the years, the two airlines offering excellent in-flight services and timely schedules have been the best bets for passengers seeking tickets deals to hop aboard international flights to travel to popular destinations in Africa, South Africa, South America, the Middle East and beyond.
