Warhorse set for Melbourne stage

The stage adaptation of Warhorse is to be performed in Melbourne.

The stage production of Warhorse is set to be performed in Melbourne later this year, with the play's impressive puppets already making an appearance in the city.

The play will represent the first time the National Theatre's play has been produced in Australia and will take place at the Arts Centre Melbourne's State Theatre.

Its first performance is scheduled to take place on December 31st and will run to February 10th 2013.

Warhorse tells the story of a horse named Joey that is sold into the cavalry at the start of the First World War and details the experiences it has when it is used by the soldiers on both sides.

It captured the imagination of the audience in London when it was adapted from Michael Morpurgo's novel of the same name and has since been adapted into a film that was produced by Steven Spielberg.
