Gulf Film Festival opens in Dubai

The 5th Gulf Film Festival has opened in Dubai, with 155 films set to be shown across the event.

The 5th Gulf Film Festival is taking place in Dubai and film fans will have the choice of 155 new movies across the event.

This year's edition of the event opened in the emirate yesterday (April 10th) and will continue through to April 16th, with filmmakers and actors coming from 40 countries around the world to showcase their latest creations.

Held at Dubai Festival City, a number of other films also being screened at the venue include those by local producers and creations for the international short film contest.

A special selection of children's films from as far afield as Taiwan and Canada has also been put together.

Opened by Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the first night was held to honour Bahraini filmmaker Bassam Al-Thawadi and Iranian actor Behrouz Vossoughi.
