Wilma Cruise exhibition in Cape Town examines children's story

The Lewis Carroll book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is the inspiration for a new exhibition in Cape Town.

Wilma Cruise: The Animals in Alice is a fascinating new show that people who have taken cheap flights to Cape Town can check out.

It is on display at the iArt Gallery until August 15th and uses the absurd logic from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to create a bizarre and contradictory world where words from the book intermingle with pictures of animals.

"The words do not explain the images nor do they make (logical) sense, suggesting that language fails in the face of animal-human interaction. Instead it is in the arena of the pre-linguistic," noted the official Cape Town tourism website.

Carroll's story was originally published in 1865, yet still holds a fascination for countless fans and artists nearly 150 years later.
