The Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan

This captivating double storied ornate structure in teak with elaborate arches, balconies, and pillars was an erstwhile home to the gigantic historical figure, Tipu Sultan. The palace also doubles up as a museum, showcasing exquisite artefacts dating back to the regime of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. There are four staircases connecting the balconies and upper chambers with the ground level. The central area is a huge hall leading into four smaller rooms. These rooms are believed to be women’s quarters or Zenana. Intricately designed floral motifs in mute warm colours were used for painting the walls and wooden ceilings of the summer palace.
