The time is right for Britons to board a flight and embark upon a journey whose memories will linger on for long in their minds. An unprecedented row of bank holidays has ensured that a huge number of travellers will be donning their travelling pants.

Easter, the royal wedding and the spring bank holidays accrue together and offer a wonderful chance to the travellers to grab an overseas flight and enjoy an exciting vacation.

Thousands of Britons are indeed being swayed by the prospect of spending time in the warmer climates as the bank holiday bonanza approaches fast. For people in regular Monday to Friday jobs, all it takes to enjoy an 11-day break is getting just three days off from the office! Surely, people must have thought over it much earlier and many must have booked tickets in order to net cheap flights.

Various airlines are likely to witness a huge passenger movement as a large number of Britons are expected to take advantage of the unique opportunity.

EasyJet, a carrier known for offering cheap tickets on flights, has rolled out special last minute deals for those travellers who have missed a seat on its previously announced flights. EasyJet has described the forthcoming two weeks as ‘once-in-a-lifetime bank holiday extravaganza’ and very appropriately so!

ABTA reported that nearly two million Britons are expected to travel overseas during and around the Easter break.

Different news portals quoted ABTA chairman John McEwan as saying, “Easter is the traditional curtain raiser to the summer, and the Royal Wedding bank holiday has given a special boost to bookings.

“I am delighted to see that so many of our customers are taking advantage of the extra days off, either heading off overseas or taking a break closer to home.”

Popular Holiday Destinations this Season
Spain is at top of the ladder as far as Britons’ favourite foreign holiday destinations are concerned. Spain’s Canary Islands and the Costa del Sol seem to be the most popular areas for travel among vacationers. Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and New York make up the list for popular holiday cities for holiday makers in the UK who want to take advantage of the 11-day break.

Among domestic destinations, London remains the unbeatable leader with many wanting to join in the Royal Wedding celebrations. Tickets on flights to Edinburgh and Manchester also seem to be pretty popular this holiday season. Great weather forecast has further ensured that bookings for cottages in Cornwall, East Anglia and the North of England remain high.

UK airports have also reported high numbers of bookings, with regional airports and ferry terminals being exceedingly busy over the weekend.

Bmibaby Withdraws Cardiff & Manchester Routes,‎ Increases Services to Belfast

Bmibaby stated it would axe all its operations from Cardiff and Manchester Airports at the end of the summer 2011 schedule. As a result, four bmibaby planes that are currently based at the two airports will be redeployed to Belfast, East Midlands and Birmingham. The low-cost airline, at presently, runs 40 weekly flights from Manchester and 30 weekly flights from Cardiff to different destinations.

The airline said that during the current economic climate it needs to focus more on its established routes.

Bmibaby began its operations from Cardiff in 2002 and has two aircrafts that are based at the airport. Through the airport, the airline serves a number of destinations, like Alicante, Geneva and Palma.

Last year, the Cardiff Airport handled nearly 1.4 million passengers out of which bmibaby accounted for just over 10%. In 2006/07, bmibaby accounted for around 34% of all total passengers.

Bmibaby is particularly popular among budget travellers who seek tickets on cheap flights. The airline is considered one of the leading low-cost carriers operating out of the UK and is indeed popular for doling out cheap tickets on flights.

A spokeswoman for bmibaby was quoted by news portals as stating, “In the current economic climate it is essential for bmibaby to focus on airports where the airline already has a strong market presence and where there are strong growth opportunities for the business.

“Therefore bmibaby has optimised its current flying programme and will reposition two Boeing 737 aircraft currently based at Cardiff, and two Boeing 737 aircraft currently based at Manchester, to Belfast, Birmingham and East Midlands Airports from winter 2011.

“We will therefore cease operations from Cardiff Airport and from Manchester Airport from the end of the summer 2011 flying schedule,” added the airline’s spokeswoman.

The Managing Director of Cardiff Airport, Patrick Duffy, was confident of the airport’s future after the bmibaby exit. Mr Duffy insisted that bmibaby’s percentage of total passengers had fallen drastically over the years. He added that he believes that there is a viable travel market in South Wales for another budget carrier, which can offer better returns on investment than that attained by bmibaby.

Bmibaby Expands Belfast City Routes

On the other hand, bmibaby has launched new flights to Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Ibiza for summer 2012, in addition to a new year-round service to Amsterdam from October 31, and flights to Geneva from December 17. Tickets for the new routes are on sale.

"Bmibaby will be the only low-cost airline to operate the new routes directly from Belfast City Airport, and this will make getting away for a sunshine, ski or city break more accessible from Northern Ireland," Julian Carr, Managing Director of bmibaby, was quoted in different online sources.

Bmibaby Increases Operations to Belfast, Ends Flights to Manchester and Cardiff

Bmibaby is chopping off its services from Cardiff and Manchester Airports at the end of the summer 2011. The airline, known for offering affordable air tickets, currently operates 40 weekly flights from Manchester and 30 weekly flights from Cardiff to a number of destinations.

The carrier says that the present economic conditions force it to focus more on its established routes and those established routes apparently are Belfast, East Midlands and Birmingham where same aircrafts will be deployed which currently serve the Cardiff and Manchester airports.

A spokeswoman for bmibaby was quoted by news portals as stating, “In the current economic climate it is essential for bmibaby to focus on airports where the airline already has a strong market presence and where there are strong growth opportunities for the business.

The axing of the Cardiff and Manchester flights will surely affect the budget passengers who used to travel with the airline for its cheap flights. Bmibaby is indeed a popular airline that is renowned for offering tickets on its cheap flights. However, Cardiff’s and Manchester’s loss is Belfast’s gain as bmibaby has launched new flights from Belfast to Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Ibiza for summer 2012, in addition to a new year-round service to Amsterdam from October 31, and flights to Geneva from December 17. Tickets for these new routes are up for grabs!

Gambling and Adventure – Two Reasons for Booking Flights to Singapore

A Singapore holiday spoils one for choice. With travel and tourism being an indispensable part of the Singaporean identity, the country has emerged as a highly popular holiday destination. Take a look at these two Singapore holiday activities.

Resorts World Sentosa

The Resorts World Sentosa is absolutely not to be missed if you are taking flights to Singapore. The Resorts World Casino, the oldest Asia gaming operator owns and operates the place. A visit to the Resorts World Casino gives guests the chance to try their luck over a variety of options like table games, electronic games, and slots. In fact, Resorts World Sentosa is slowly emerging as a major reason for booking flights to Singapore as besides gambling, one can also check out major attractions like Universal Studios Singapore, Maritime Xperiential Museum, FestiveWalk, and Marine Life Park.

Marina Bay Sands

Most gambling enthusiasts booking cheap flights to Singapore make it a point to visit the Marina Bay Sands as well. There are over 1600 slot machines offering more than 250 game titles and themes. One can also try out the different table games like Money Wheel and Roulette. Popular games include Sic-Bo, Singapore Stud Poker, and Non Commission Baccarat. For some fast paced action, try out the Rapid Table Games.

Snow City

Booking cheap flights to Singapore can also treat you to some adventurous snowy delights and the place for these delights is Snow City. The top lure of Snow City is the huge snowy slope where guests get to throw snowballs and hurtle down this immense slope on a black inner tube. While going on a Snow City tour, many travellers also take the two hour lessons on skiing and snowboarding offered at the Snow Line.

Ski360°

The Ski360° is a fine spot for some exotic water sporting adventures during one’s Singapore holiday. Travellers who want to experience some serious action without being bothered by crowds should visit during weekday mornings as the place is pretty isolated. Sporting options include water skiing, knee boarding, or wakeboarding.

Jungle Trekking

Jungle trekking is also a popular Singapore adventure travel attraction and the most favoured trek is the one to the Bukit Timah Hill. This hill is the highest point in Singapore and offers magnificent sweeping views of the landscape. Rare birds, the country’s last surviving rainforests, insect eating pitcher plants, and flying femurs are some of the fabulous sights to be witnessed on a jungle trek.

Reverse Bungee

The Reverse Bungee experience may well become one of the most sensational parts of Singapore’s tourism sector. One gets to slice up to a height of some 60 metres at the incredible speed of 200 km per hour. Guests also experience a G-force of five, which is akin to what astronauts on rocket launches undergo.

Best Times for Booking Flights to Explore Egypt

Egypt, one of the most sought after travel destinations in the world, teems with dazzling wonders. Be it Cairo or Luxor, every corner of the country casts its spell over visitors. However, like all other tourism hubs in the world, one needs to take the climate into consideration before booking tickets with airlines to Egypt.

The Red Sea

The Red Sea Coast, with its famous resort destinations like Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada is best visited from June to September. The crowds are thin and visitors can look forward to cool breezes and bath warm waters. The Red Sea resorts do brisk business during summers as families on their summer break rush to book accommodations at Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh, and the other resort areas. With average summer temperatures being about 30 °C, the weather proves to be magnificent for a beach outing. However, it is not a bad idea to catch flights to Egypt for a Red Sea trip during winters when the average temperature is around a favourable 25 °C. One stands better chances of getting cheap accommodation too at this time.

Cruises on the Nile

Going on one of those world famous Nile cruises from Aswan to Luxor is the coveted dream of many. October to April proves to be the best time for such a visit. However, the summer months of June to August prove to be economical as there are higher chances of finding cheap flights to Egypt. Still, travellers booking cheap flights to Egypt to fly at this time must note that the average temperatures of about 40 °C make expeditions to the tombs of Luxor and other outdoor activities on a cruise a bit too hot for many to bear.

Western Desert Region of Egypt

October to February is perfect for planning a travel to the Western Desert Region of Egypt. In fact, it may not be an exaggeration to say that this is perhaps the only suitable time to take flights to Egypt and visit this region. Especially, tourists planning to go there during March and May should be extremely wary of the notorious Khamsin. This is a hot spring wind and can affect the area up to Cairo. BA Raises Fuel Surcharge for Third Time in Four Months

British Airways is doing what it does best and that is raising fuel surcharges! For third time in four months, the national carrier of the UK has gone ahead and jacked up the fuel surcharge.

The ‘valuable’ announcement came on Tuesday and will be implied from Friday, 08th April on long-haul flights. British Airways has put the blame on the rising global oil prices for its decision. And oil prices are indeed sky high as unrest continues in Libya, which is one of the leading producers of crude oil in the world.

"Due to the high price of oil, British Airways has today had to announce an increase in its fuel surcharge on long haul travel from Friday, April 8, 2011," BA’s press release stated.

"There will be no increase in the fuel surcharge on domestic and short haul flights," the airline’s press release further read.

Whatever may be the case, this airfare hike does not come as good news for travellers who were hoping to land up with cheap tickets on BA flights this holiday season. With such frequent increase in airline’s ticket prices, BA cheap flights seem more of oxymoron as of now!

Surcharge for flights that take less than nine hours is going to go up by £85, while for flights that take more than nine hours to reach the destined airport, the levy will reach £98. For business and first class passengers on long haul, the surcharge on tickets is going to be more.
