Located near the Djemaa el Fna, the Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque of Marrakesh. It is especially for its magnificent minaret. It is located in the medina of Marrakesh, the exact dates of palace's construction are unknown, the building was commissioned between 1859 and 1873 and was completed in 1900. It was built in two phases by different two men, a father and son. The first part known as Dar Si Moussa was built between 1859 and 1873 by Si Moussa and the second phase of construction was by Si Moussa's son Ba Ahmed.
