Passengers to get connected with Air France and KLM

Air France and KLM are launching an in-flight connectivity programme on board their long-haul flights, with trials of the service beginning early next year.

The French-Dutch company Air France-KLM says that, once the service goes live, customers on selected Boeing 777-300 aircraft will be able to connect wirelessly to the internet via their smartphone, laptop or tablet PC at a fixed rate, as well as use their mobile phone for sending texts and using email.

An in-flight website will offer the latest news, TV channels, destination information and magazines.

This trial run forms part of a long-term strategy to offer in-flight connectivity across the group's entire long-haul fleet.

"Being permanently connected is now part of our customers' daily lifestyles," said Christian Herzog, senior vice-president of marketing at Air France-KLM.
