A range of new routes from Thai AirAisa are to depart from Bangkok Airport from the summer onwards.
A range of new flights with Thai AirAsia are to start departing from Bangkok Airport to other locations across Asia.
The carrier will have five flights a week from the Bangkok terminal to Chennai, which comes in addition to the daily flights that it already operates.
Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia,also announced the group will be commencing journeys between several other locations in China and India.
Commenting on the news, Mr Bijleveld said: "By linking Bangkok to a new and unique destination such as Chongqing, we are hoping to stimulate investment between the two cities while bringing new exciting travel experiences to the people of both places."
The route to Chongquing will be the first time that the airline has flown between the Thai capital and the Chinese city.
