SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, introduced a new Go Africa Pass on flights operated by Kenya Airways (one of its member) within Africa. The passes will facilitate cost savings and flexibility to business travellers and holiday makers flying with any of SkyTeam’s 15 member airlines on an intercontinental round-trip to Africa or a Go Round the World ticket.
As revealed in a press release on Kenya Airways’ website, “customers purchasing a Go Africa Pass can opt from a minimum of three to a maximum of 16 flight coupons. Fares are calculated based on the number of miles flown non-stop, offering discounts of up to 75% off standard fares, depending on the itinerary. The coupons have no minimum stay, open-jaw itineraries are permitted and passengers can stop in each city multiple times – giving them complete flexibility to plan their trips”.
The passes are available for sale now, for travel beginning on or after March 1.
Kenya Airways, a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, is operating to over 45 African destinations in 36 countries including; Lagos in Nigeria, Accra in Ghana, Johannesburg in South Africa, Luanda in Angola, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Cairo in Egypt. The airlines operates flights to Nairobi from Hong Kong and Guangzhou in the Greater China Region, apart from European cities, Asia and the Middle East.
Air France, Alitalia, KLM and Delta Air Lines are some other SkyTeam airlines that offer services to Africa. Korean Air will start operating their flights to Nairobi in June and Saudi Arabian Airlines and MEA, the future alliance members, also fly to Africa.
The launch of Go Africa Passes and addition of more flight services will surely mean flexible and affordable air travel for business as well as leisure travellers. On the other hand, it will also make holidays to Africa more rewarding thereby promoting tours and travel to the destination.
