Travellers over the age of 50 are looking to take trips which will challenge the body and mind.
Travellers over the age of 50 are becoming increasingly adventurous with the types of holiday they take.
Sarah Woods, a freelance travel author and travel presenter on ITV1’s Alan Titchmarsh Show, said there is a big trend for people in this age group taking adventure holidays as this generation is 'younger' than those before them.
They also appreciate how enjoyable it can be to challenge themselves both mentally and physically.
"More 50-plus travellers than ever before are taking extended breaks now, such as gap years and backpacking trips to destinations that are off the beaten track," Ms Wood said.
She added that there are now more travel insurance policies for people of this age, which is opening up a range of new sports and experiences to older travellers.
