Abu Dhabi hotels see record year

Hotels in Abu Dhabi have seen a record year over the past 12 months.

Hotels in Abu Dhabi could be increasingly filled with holiday guests as the emirate has reported it has seen a huge rise in the number of people staying in its accommodation.

The latest figures for the past 12 months showed 2,111,611 stayed in the emirate's hotels and hotel apartments.

This figures is particularly important as a target of two million guests had been set for 2011, with this number beating it by six per cent.

It was noted this number was particularly encouraging as a number of new hotels and resorts have been constructed in the state in recent times, which have significantly increased its overall capacity.

These include several five star properties and come in addition to Saadiyat Island being opened up to guests.
