Qantas boosts links in Queensland

Qantas has announced it is to offer more links across regional locations in Queensland.

Travellers on flights to Australia who want to head to rural locations in Queensland will now have a wider selection of journeys available from Qantas.

The carrier has announced it is to make a "significant" boost to its product, service and schedule in the region.

Executive manager of QantasLink Narendra Kumar said the airline will have two new B717 aircraft, which will be based in Brisbane.

These two 115 capacity planes will come into service early in 2012.

Some of the other additions include extra services on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Cairns and Weipa, while Charleville will get a direct service to Brisbane.

"QantasLink has continued to respond to regional Queensland communities who rely on air services by introducing a new schedule that connects them with Brisbane and beyond," Mr Kumar said.
